Hey Music I was pretty much in the same boat as you. I always called it church to my friends because it was just embarrassing saying, "I have to go to the Kingdom Hall tonight". I also play music, I think that almost forces you to leave.

I think I just broke the tele-market man
by whitman inwell, today is one of those procrastinatey days, i'm at home alone with the cat who is dazzling me with her new tricks.
so i got pretty excited when the tele-marketer man called to discuss a new and fantastic mobile phone deal.
i managed to keep him on the phone for 32 minutes as i explained to him that i could only use a blue telephone due to a specific type of colour blindness that i have....which i do not have.... turns out they just don't make blue phones.

I always liked the Jerry Seinfeld approach. When he got a telemarketer call he said, "could I have your home phone number so I can call you back later?" the telemarketer obviously says no on the other end and he says, "Oh you don't like people calling you at home when it's most inconvenient either?" then he hangs up the phone. Priceless.

Wake Up -- Possible Local Mini-Scandal

by Dogpatch inthe number of my books in academic libraries.
i have authored several scholarly books and monographs about the jehovahs witnesses.
my books and articles on the watchtower and related topics are found in hundreds of university, college and other libraries, and have also been translated into 12 languages.

I'm still very skeptical of this. Perhaps the issue is magnified because there really isn't much on JW's so when something does get destroyed it's more drastic then would be for something like Catholics. Perhaps the temperament has changed since the 80's but I have known some whacky JW's as we all have and again I have never heard of anything like this. Just doesn't fit most dubs M.O. for me. As I stated before I think the problem is a the least a mix of some fundies thinking the books are pro-JW and just destroying some of them. Who knows though? I aint ruling the dub destruction of library books completely out.

SOMEONE STOLE MY SCOOTER
by Burger Time inoh my god so i wake up this morning to find my scooter has vanished.
this freaking sucks big time.
someone had to break the wheel lock then dragged it through the grass a little ways when they noticed the back wheel had a chain on it.

Thanks for all the comments. It was a red Roketa scooter. It didn't cost much, but hey you live and learn I suppose. I should have known to figured out some way to keep it in my house or lock it up better. I hope I see some jerk riding around on it.
Funny story, I once saw a guy get his ass kicked at a gas station for stealing a car. The guy whose truck got stolen happened to be at the gas station pumping gas in to his rental when the dude who stole the truck rolled up to pump gas. It was an awesome scene.

It sounds to me more like unwitting fundies confusing them for pro JW books. I have never heard of JW's going to book stores to destroy books. Not saying it doesn't happen but just doesn't fit the JW style.
